Whether you’re drafting your first novel, stuck midway through a WIP, wanting to set aside some time for a shiny object idea, or just trying to get some words down—this challenge is for you!
The goals of this group are to smash writing challenges, prioritise your writing, develop tools and strategies to write more efficiently, uplift and support each other, be in community with fellow writers.
This group was created by a queer, neurodivergent author with the express intention of being a safe space for writers of marginalised identities. (If you’re not cool with that, this isn’t the right space for you.)
Here’s my hot take: I don’t feel most traditional writing advice is beneficial to people who are neurodivergent, people who are working full-time, people who are parents, people who have to carry the majority of the domestic labor in their household, or people who are making lots of decisions for lots of different people and themselves every day.
There’s this magical unicorn of a writing routine called “consistency” that doesn’t work for a lot of us. Writing advice about going to sit in a special place and having the perfect setup and writing consistently at the same time every day for an hour – that doesn’t work for a lot of our schedules or brains.
I’m an AuDHD author who’s written over 30 book in the last four years and I find that consistency is not my friend. I’m the sort of person who will buy a journal and write the first three pages in it and then discard it forever and buy a new one six months later (and if you’re like that you probably will benefit from this kind of writing too! I’ve even done a video on it).
For me, short, intensive challenges are super motivating. I can commit to three days a few times a year far more easily than I can commit to an hour every day. So I started take a long weekend, get out of the house, and set myself a goal of writing 30,000 words in three days. (This is the sweet spot that works for me, that I still have to push myself to complete, but is not unrealistic.)
The goals of this group are to:
– Smash writing challenges
– Prioritise your writing
– Develop tools and strategies to write more efficiently
– Uplift and support each other
– Be in community with fellow writers
✨ Don’t worry about being perfect—just show up, write what you can, and have fun. You’ve got this 💪✍️
The 3Day30K was created was created by a queer, neurodivergent author with the express intention of being a safe space for writers of marginalised identities.
Not all writing hours are created equal, especially for people who are neurodivergent, who are suffering chronic pain conditions, who are in care positions – The 3Day30K fast drafting challenge is a chance for writers to get words on the page, and finish their stories!
Nope! Choose a goal that pushes you just enough—something that makes you excited (and maybe slightly nervous!). There’s a whole list of adventures to choose from in the workbook from 6k all the way to 30k!
The challenge itself is completely free, as is access to the Discord community, but there is a workbook available for purchase if you were looking to have a copy of your own.
The workbook is available for download through the Discord, but if you aren’t looking to join in with the group, you can find it here in the Challenge store.
